Bull Point Lighthouse was first established in 1879 on the headland near the village of Mortehoe as a guide to vessels navigating off the North Devon Coast with a red sector light marking the Rockham Shoal and the Morte Stone off Morte Point.

There are four refurbished former lighthouse keepers' cottages at the lighthouse  - Sherrin, Siren, Warden & Triton.

A stay at Bull Point lighthouse gives fantastic access to the South West Coast Path with breathtaking views in all directions.  Walking opportunities abound.

For beaches, head to nearby Saunton Sands, Woolacombe or Croyde - all great for surfing.  The busy town of Ifracombe is also close by with plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants.  Be sure to visit to Damien Hirst’s statue ‘Verity’ - a 20 metre tall stainless steel and bronze statue on the peir at the entrance to Ilfracombe harbour.

Notes

The perimeter of the site is fully fenced and gated but once outside this area, it is very dangerous for children staying at the holiday cottage. Strict supervision at all times is recommended, as not all guests will remember to keep the gate closed and locked.

This lighthouse does not have a fog signal.

Country access roads to some of the lighthouse sites are narrow with limited passing places and, dependent on the season and site, there is the possibility of overhanging vegetation due to cutting restrictions during bird breeding seasons or other environmental reasons.

Guests should be aware that the lighthouses and equipment need regular and sometimes emergency maintenance. Therefore visits by maintenance staff may occur at any time during the year. However, staff will do their best to ensure guest privacy at all times.
